About the festival

In the final days of November (26. - 29. 11. 2007) Kalidays '07 with it's attending experts from the areas of market communications, advertising and creative writing, will lighten all those young minds that come to the festival.

At the same time young copywriters will have the opportunity to lighten the competent judges and sponsors of the briefs with their ideas, which must be submitted by 16th of November through our on-line form. Your ideas must be described exclusively with text and they must follow the determined guidelines of the selected brief. Winners of the festival will be announced at the closing event of the final day and both the judges and the sponsors will select their winners.

This festival welcomes all young people (no older than 30), which are not, as of yet, employed at any advertising agency and which would also liked to show off their creativity in writing copies. Also, this festival is a great opportunity for the companies and advertising agencies, to, for the third year in the row, meet young new advertising talents.

Novelties

With this year's festival, we decided to move Kalidays from its past location, which was the Faculty of social sciences, Ljubljana (Fakulteta za družbene vede; FDV), because we would like to get rid of the notion that Kalidays is for the students of FDV only. Because we left the surroundings of FDV, we had to look for a new location, and we were also compelled to install an entry fee to the festival, in the amount of 25 eur. To make that amount justifiable, we made an effort this year to really bring to you those people, from whom you can benefit the most. Also we will make our best effort so that your experience of the festival is agreeable, educational and fun.

Our goal is to become internationally recognizable festival of copywriting, accessible to all young people, not regarding their past references, jobs or countries from which they came from. It is also the vision of company Kalidej, to make the bonds between students of market communications and those who could benefit from their knowledge - advertising and market research agencies stronger. That is why, we decided to work together with the Croatian school called Poslovna izvrsnost, and bring to you some of the ideas from their courses for copywriters.

It is our wish, that you get the most that you can from this year's festival and in order for you to do so, we enabled you to make your own schedule. You can select from a variety of workshops, but you must enlist them on your application. The places in the workshops will be filled out by the rule "first one there, gets the girl", so hurry up and do not delay with your applications.

The most important addition of this year's festival is practical training period at Infiniti MRM, d.o.o. The jury will choose the most creative and innovative idea and it's author will have the opportunity to work with professionals on real projects for a month.

Festival rules

  1. A visitor needs to pay an entry fee to the festival, in the amount of 25 eur. Receipt of payment must be sent through e-mail or classic mail until 19th November 2007. Applications and receipts sent after this date won't be accepted.
  2. To enter the competition of Kalidays Festival, you must be born in 1977 or later. Members of the jury or their family members, business partners and co-workers cannot apply to the competition.
  3. With the application and its confirmation the contestant confirms that he or she is aware of the rules and conditions of the competition and agrees to them in their entirety.
  4. With the confirmation of application the contestant confirms the veracity of the personal data stated in the application.
  5. The applications that are not in conformity with the rules and conditions of the competition will not be considered valid and will disqualify the contestant. All intentional or unintentional violation of rules and conditions of the competition will automatically disqualify the contestant.
  6. Each individual can enter 1 (one) idea for each brief. The deadline for submission of entries on the www.kalidays.net website is 16 November 2007 at 24:00. The submitted texts must be written in Slovene or English language.
  7. Application of one creative solution costs 5 eur. In cases when individuals pay an entry fee, in the amount of 25 eur, they can apply up to 5 creative sollutions. Receipt of payment must be sent through e-mail or classic mail until 19th November 2007. Applications and receipts sent after this date won't be accepted.
  8. With the application and its confirmation the contestant confirms that he or she is the actual author of the submitted ideas and releases the organizers of the Kalidays festival of all third-party obligations.
  9. The authors of the competition submissions allow the organizers and the sponsor of Kalidays Festival to show and publish without any remuneration the submitted ideas for purposes of promotion of the Festival and promotion of participation of sponsors in the Festival.
  10. The winners of the Festival have the right to mention the award for the purposes of their own promotion, with a detailed description of the competition and the award.
  11. The jury will select the finalists among all submitted entries according to the jury's preference. The jury will evaluate the coded entries, which will not reveal the applicants' personal information. The jury will select the winners of individual briefs and award them with "Zlatko" (Goldie) awards. The jury reserves the right not to award the main prizes. The jury is not obliged to publicly justify its decisions.
  12. The brief sponsor selects the winner of an individual brief, who then receives the award for the best idea of this brief. The award for each brief is 200 eur, winners of the festival will be announced at the closing event of the final day. The sponsor awards are awarded independently of the awards given by the jury.
  13. By giving the award sponzor gets the right to realization of the idea and its use for purposes of its own promotion. Sponzor is also obliged to clearly mark the author of the idea on each realization of the idea if the author wishes so.
  14. The sponsor of a brief reserves the right to not award any entry. The awarded authors must accept the award. The sponsor is not obliged to justify his decision.
  15. The decisions of the jury and the sponsors of the Festival are final and binding. It is not possible to appeal the jury or sponsor decisions.
  16. Each creative sollution, applied for any brief is competing for special festival reward - one month of practical training period at Infiniti MRM, company for communicating d.o.o.
